History
Patricia Ramirez Swimwear is a Colombian brand that was founded in 1994, inspired by Cartagena de Indias and the Caribbean, and specializing in unique handmade pieces designed for women around the world who prefer to dress with luxurious and exclusive outfits, innovative designs, and handcrafted fabrics and textiles, finely decorated by the hands of artists from all over the country.
In the constant search for material resources of ancestral inspiration, we went from the Guajira to the Amazon, making cultural trips around the country and finding snails and coconut shells from La Boquilla, Isla Fuerte and Baru, fish scales from Belén beach, fabrics from San Jacinto, Buga, San Juan and Santa Cruz de Mompox, handicrafts from Usiacuri, Itsmina, Jerico, Pueblo Bello and Colosó, natural fibers from Guaduas, saddlery from Valle, ironworks from Getsemaní…
With the recurring idea of giving life to a brand characterized by an unusual and disruptive design accompanied by a torrent of colors, textures, materials and shapes, this innovative designer creates her first collection, scrupulously supervising all the finishes of each garment, turning each of them into a unique piece with a distinctive character. His first store was opened in the city of Cartagena de Indias, named LA CANELA, in reference to the color of the skin after having received the sun’s rays. This gallery of new designers prompted her to create her own brand, which consisted of unique pieces that highlighted the artistic work, making each one of them a unique and unrepeatable filigree piece.
The second staging took place with a store located in the historic center of Cartagena, recognized worldwide as a fashion powerhouse and part of the historical heritage of humanity. The store was called AZUL PINTADO DE AZUL, and it was a more creative space in its design, assembly, products and proposed pieces.
Founder
To talk about our beginnings is to refer to a woman of Puerto Rican descent, who comes from a matriarchal family with a strong and resolute character where she relied on new ideas and discoveries in any endeavor, without fear of making mistakes. Patricia Ramirez Swimwear was created 25 years ago by its creator, Patricia Ramirez Aristeguieta, born in Cartagena, after attending the Academy of Architecture and Industrial Design at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where she fell in love with the use of color and proportion in combination with her creative nature and Latin heritage. Having always lived by the sea and feeling the joy and jubilation it evokes in coastal souls, Patricia decided to take advantage of her apprenticeship in different schools and thus create a brand that felt and vibrated with the warmth of the ocean, with pieces finely decorated by women who mastered the craft and had experience in the field of embroidery. The ever-present idea of creating his line, with a chic inclination, also came from his contact with the Colombian talent in the different stores that this innovator has had over the last 25 years. This idea that was initially proposed aimed at creating pieces with great design value, in which the use of textures in relief was achieved through embroidery in rhinestones, sequins, combs and the use of thread.
